"My football game"

A few weeks ago, Eric and Emilia joined Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Corey, Uncle Kyle, Gill and about 15 other friends at the Virginia Tech-Maryland football game (Anna and I spent our day selling Pink Pineapple Studio frames). They had the full experience, including tailgating. Since Corey went to Tech and Kyle went to Maryland, Emilia had to be bipartisan in her cheering, so here she is with one shaker for each team. They had a great time and now every time Emilia sees a football game on TV she asks, "is that MY football game?" I think she's ready to go back.

While Grammy and Poppy were in town, Eric and his dad left the girls at home to play with their guns in the Virginia countryside. They said it was a great day for shooting, and thankfully they returned with all their fingers and toes.

Bath buddies

Even though Anna is a little young still, it saves some time to give the girls a bath together. We just need to make sure Emilia is not trying to "help" rinse Anna underwater.

Never-ending leaves

This is the time of year when the leaves completely overtake our yard. This year, Emilia got into the action helping daddy. As you can see, she prefers jumping in the leaves as opposed to actually helping.

Anna's dedication

Grammy and Poppy were joined by Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Corey, Uncle Kyle and Gillian when we had Anna dedicated at church a few weeks ago. The day had gotten off to a rocky start with Emilia having a nasty stomach bug (which expelled in the car pulling into the church parking lot). Luckily, it wasn't the flu, but it did knock her out for a good 24 hours.

The dedication confirms that we will do our part to raise Anna in a Christian home and steer her little heart toward God. The dedication was extra special because Anna shared the stage with her buddies, Laura Hill and Andrew Vaughan. Pastor Jim Supp led the service.

And of course, Pink Pineapple Studio wouldn't miss an opportunity to peddle our frames to our families! Speaking of PPS, we had two successful events two weeks ago and are gearing up for two more shows next weekend, including the Herndon Holiday Craft Fair on Dec. 6.

No visit with Emilia would be complete without a performance by Rocknoceros. We all went to see them play at Jammin Java before Grammy and Poppy departed. As usual, it was a rockin' good time.

While Grammy and Poppy were here, we took advantage of a beautiful fall day to tour Mount Vernon.

Anna update

I'm pretty delinquent in updating the blog... it turns out that life with a toddler and a newborn is a little hectic.

Anna is seven weeks old and settling into somewhat of a routine. Around three or four weeks, she really started smiling and cooing. She's desperately trying to suck her thumb. She's enjoying her playmat and swing, particularly looking at herself in the mirror.

Like the typical newborn, she spends her days eating and sleeping. But, she isn't the only one catching up on some rest in our house.

Halloween

We started our Halloween off by heading to Arlington to help Uncle Corey move into his new condo. The girls and I weren't too much help (unless you count christening his new house with lots of dirty diapers). Here's Emilia entertaining herself at Corey's house:

There's no question that fall is upon us based on the volume of leaves in our yard:
Later, we joined our neighborhood's annual Halloween parade and trick-or-treating. Emilia was a skunk... fitting because she truly is a little stinker. Typical Emilia - she had little interest in the candy, but hung onto a hot dog from the party the entire night. Here she is with our neighbor, Zane:Uncle Corey joined the festivities, too...

We ended the night with our traditional make-your-own jack-o-lantern pizza competition with Uncle Corey and our neighbors, Ivor, Shaila and Zane. Corey upset the reigning champion (Eric), but since he used a non-sanctioned condiment, his winning pizza is still under review. Who knows if he'll be invited back next year...

Bedtime for the sisters

Baby Anna has been joining in on Emilia's bedtime routine. Daddy reads a new book to both girls... and Emilia cuddles with her baby dolls... (where's Anna?) All smiles before bedtime!
