All of a sudden, it got hot (over 90 degrees)! Before dinner tonight we took some time to cool off with the hose in the front yard. Can't wait for more summer fun!

Baby Norah!
On Monday night, we finally met Baby Norah, Steph and Gabe's little cutie pie. She is such a sweetheart. I'm very excited that she and Anna are so close in age. They'll have lots of fun playing together. At nearly eight months, Anna looks like a giant compared to Norah!

Stylin' for summer
On Saturday afternoon, Emilia got a much-needed haircut. We cut about two inches off for a cute summer bob.
Birthday blitz
This weekend, Emilia got to go to two birthday parties -- both of which invited her to be dropped off without mommy and daddy -- something new for us.
On Saturday morning, we dropped Emilia off at the Reston Zoo for Zane's third birthday. Emilia loved seeing the animals and eating some yummy food. She especially loved her favor -- a pretty pink watch. That thing has not left her wrist since the party!
On Sunday afternoon, we dropped Emilia off at the Simpsons' house for Nina's fourth birthday party - a fairy theme. They made fairy wings, got fairly glitter, bounced in the bounce house and ate more yummy food. Since we weren't there, I didn't get any pictures, but Mandy put up some great shots on their blog.
Howdy neighbor
On Friday night, our neighborhood kicked off its summer socials. We got to connect with our neighbors over drinks and snacks. The kids had a great time riding around the cul-de-sac. Emilia followed the big girls around all evening!

Too lazy to peddle
Emilia is loving her new (to her) Radio Flyer tricycle -- especially when it doesn't require any effort. Last week, our neighbor, Zane, got a kick pushing Emilia around our cul-de-sac. Too cute.

Clara the babysitter
Clara and Anna have a special bond. Anna lights up when she sees Clara, and Clara is super gentle with Anna. At small group last night, Clara took her regular role of caring for Anna and snuggling with her on the couch. It's nice to see a preschooler hug Anna without it turning into a headlock (ahem, Emilia).
Letting it all out
On the drive home from the air show, Emilia was exhausted, passed out, and snoring the whole ride. Anna, on the other hand, was as active and happy as can be. It turns out she "released" some build up in her system -- all over her car seat. We literally had to hose her off when we go home.

We ended the day with dinner and a new menu item/toy for Anna:

Loud jets!
After Wendy, Sandra and I enjoyed a fabulous night away at the Gaylord Resort at National Harbor (thanks to our husbands for the amazing Mother's Day treat), the guys and kids picked us up and we headed to the air show at Andrews' Airforce Base. Despite our outing being smack in the middle of nap time and the flying demonstrations being extremely loud, we had a great time. We even stayed for the Blue Angels, which were amazing.

Silly sisters
Mother's day
Yesterday was a great Mother's Day! Emilia made me "tea" and pancakes before church.
After church, Eric surprised me with brunch at Lightfoot in Leesburg.
After nap time, we headed over to Hadley's Park to let the girls burn off some energy.

We had a great day together and send our moms and grandmas all the best!
Birthday fiesta
On Saturday afternoon, we celebrated Andrew's first birthday Cinco de Mayo style. The party was filled with great Mexican food and a delicious maracas cake, a moon bounce, pin the tail on the donkey and more. Happy birthday, Andrew!
