Silly stories

The girls and I went to the library's monthly evening story time tonight for "No Fooling," - silly stories in honor of April Fool's Day. Emilia even got to participate in the "Seals on the Bus" story when it got to the "geese on the bus" verse. I don't think Emilia understood the whole concept of April Fool's Day, but she definitely enjoyed the funny stories!

Eggs, yes, bunnies, no

Grandma and Grandpa were visiting this weekend, and on Saturday, we met up with the Hills at Broadlands Community Church for an Easter Egg Hunt. Highlights for Emilia included finding the eggs and their prizes and, of course, the hot dog lunch.



Emilia was not, however, into the Easter Bunny. Even after claiming she was going to tell the Easter Bunny she loved him when she met him, she freaked out moments later and refused to go anywhere near him. So, Anna got some 1:1 time with the Bunny. As usual, Brad captured this all on video. Check it out on the Hills' blog.

Peas, please

Since Anna is just shy of six months old, we decided to try her on peas on Friday. She was excited right from the start...

And even though it was very messy, I think she enjoyed them!

Our super duper pooper

Emilia has been doing a great job in her big girl undies and going BM on the potty. Every time she goes, she has a trifecta of incentives: a lollipop, a Hello Kitty sticker and a turn having her special bear sing its theme song. Try getting these lyrics out of your head: "I'm a super duper pooper. I can potty with the best. No more diapers to stand in my way. I bet you are impressed. I'm a super duper pooper. I know when I have to go. Take a bow I'm a big kid now. I'm the best pooper you know." Yup, those are the tunes playing over at the Korsvall house.

Bows, glorious bows

Wendy turned me on a Chinese Ebay vendor who sells hair bows really cheap. My first order came in lastweek! I was definitely more excited than Emilia (I immediately reorganized and color coordinated her bow collection). I know - I have issues.

Let's go to the zoo

Last Saturday, since the weather was great, we decided to go to the zoo. It seems we weren't the only ones who had that idea. Even though it was very crowded, we had a wonderful time. Emilia especially enjoyed the panda bear.

Swinging for spring

The weather has been gorgeous lately -- a dramatic change from the snowiest winter in Washington's history! Last Friday night we met up with our neighbors, Shaila and Zane, at a local playground. Emilia, and even Anna, had a great time swinging in the warm breeze.

Luck be the ladies

The girls were ready for St. Patrick’s Day with Emilia dressed in green and Anna in her shamrock shirt (thanks, Gill!). For Emilia, St. Patrick’s Day means one thing… green food! They had green mashed potatoes at school, and tonight, she had green milk and green applesauce along with dinner. Speaking of dinner, we had leftover corned beef and cabbage that Sandra prepared for small group dinner last night. Emilia devoured hers!

Under the big top

Over the weekend, we took Emilia to her first circus! The Big Apple Circus is in town, and it was a great venue for Emilia’s first circus experience. She and Nathan loved all the acts (and snacks). She particularly liked the “horsies,” and was not a fan of an act with popping balloons.

Tuesday treat

The Chick-fil-A in Reston has Family Night every other Tuesday. Recently, we took advantage of that for some quick food and entertainment. Even Anna colored her first masterpiece! Emilia continues to despise the Chick-fil-A cow, but she did find something new she really likes: ice cream!

The five-month blues

Anna turned five months old on March 5. She continues to be super smiley, ticklish and totally in awe of her big sister. While she seems to be as content as ever, we’ve had a few rough spots recently. We've been lucky that we haven't had to supplement formula too much, but now she's decided that formula alone is "beneath her." We’re working around that by giving her half milk, half formula bottles during the day to get her more used to formula. Her nighttime sleep is, well, let’s just say, less than peaceful. Eric and I are wearing down the carpet trekking into her room in the middle of the night. But, who can complain when you see this smile?

Earlier in the month, Emilia had her second visit to the dentist, which I think might rank up there with Chick-fil-A as far as thrill factor in her book. Her eight top teeth and 10 bottom teeth look great according to her doctor.
